Why haven't we reviewed this yet - it can't be that
we're suspicious of the NME's arse-licking, is it? In
this case (on the evidence of two singles) there's
definitely something worth exploring. Though they look
like the kids who pester you at the off-licence to go
in and buy fags or WKD for them as they can't get
served, they take pleasure in knocking out the purest
punk-pop lines; 'Superstar Tradesman' is full of
ringing chords and puts you in mind of the Undertones
(then) and the Coral (now) and, setting the hype aside,
is a cracking little pop number. The live version of
'Wasted Little DJs' that accompanies it (we'll overlook
the ska-pop version of Squeeze's 'Up The Junction') is
another hook-laden gem like the poppiest bits of the
Clash and Ramones combined. Just ignore the NME hype!
