    We often think of so-called ambient music as great washes of sound that
    suspend the listener in a timeless and perhaps trance-like state. The
    approach here has been to infuse the ambient form with subtle pulse, which
    emphasizes the conditioned, temporal reality of the music, while yet
    avoiding the drift into dance versions of ambient, such as tribal, trance,
    and techno. Metasonic is not intended as dance music, although it does
    emphasize pulse.

    The virtue of the work lies in the live character of it. These are live
    performances; one shot. The music happened in the moment; it emerged from a
    particular time and place, and was a matter of life or death for the
    performer. This is bound to make a difference, and one can hear the hope and
    fear in these tracks.
