Counting the likes of Hot Chip, Jamiroquai and Omar in his legion of
fans and admirers, having taught the late great J Dilla in the art of
beat-building, and a lifetime spent on the Detroit frontline with the
likes of Kenny Dixon Jr for company leaves Amp Fiddler as one of the
most well-connected and industrious men in soul music today. Here he
uses those connections to bring fellow Windy City resident Carl
Craig, and Berlin's Jazzanova to the table. Co-written / produced by
Unambomber Justin Crawford, "Ridin'" takes its cues from "Off The
Wall" era QJ and MJ disco-soul. Carl Craig stays on the disco tip,
keeping the flavour of of the original (hand claps, live bass, key
riffs), while dropping some tough 4/4 beats into the mix and
extending the track out to 7.36 minutes long (there's also a 7" edit
from him). On the flip Jazzanova give "Faith" a deep, bubbling boogie
makeover which makes way for a broken hip hop centre featuring
dancehall MC Miss Yolanda.

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- A man dressed as Chewbacca was
arrested after police said the street performer head-butted a tour
guide operator in front of Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.
Frederick Evan Young, 44, of Los Angeles, California, was booked
Thursday for investigation of misdemeanor battery, police Lt. Paul
Vernon said. Police said the 6-foot-4 street performer was seen
arguing Thursday afternoon with a tour guide who had expressed
concern that the Star Wars wookie impersonator was "harassing and
touching tourists" in violation of city law.
