Release Notes:
Half The Man is an album like no other.
Not only does it contain beautifully haunting,
stripped-down versions of some of McCartneyüfs
finest solo songs, it is (as far as is known to us
at Crockett Records) the only McCartney tribute
album devoted to his solo work recorded by a single
artist.
On 18th June 2006, Sir Paul McCartney ? the man who
wrote üeWhen Iüfm Sixty-Fourüf ? was himself 64
years old. David released Half The Man as a personal
celebration of this, and the fact that he turned
exactly half Maccaüfs age two days previously.
David says: ügI realised the pop-significance of Sir
Paulüfs birthday in 2006, and then it dawned on me
that I would be exactly half his age at the time. I
thought this would be the perfect opportunity to pay
some kind of homage to the man whose all-round
musicality I respect more than anyone. From an
initial idea of maybe doing a special performance
somewhere, 30 seconds later Iüfd decided only a
full-blown tribute album would suffice!üh
Including well-known hits such as üeNo More Lonely
Nightsüf and üeSilly Love Songsüf, plus more obscure
gems like üeWaterfallsüf and üeDistractionsüf, it
will appeal to both the hardcore Macca fan and
people who simply appreciate acoustic music and good
songwriting.
Featuring Davidüfs wife and Birmingham Conservatoire
graduate Elizabeth Garside on üecello, the interplay
between Davidüfs voice, guitar, piano and Lizüfs
classical elements creates a very unique atmosphere.
David: ügIüfm glad to have done my bit to introduce
more people to Paul McCartneyüfs solo work, which is
all too often overlooked. Happy birthday, Paul!üh
