Release Notes:

Earl Gaines was born in Decatur, Alabama in 1935 but came to
Nashville as a teenager with an eye toward getting into the music
business. In the late 1940s and early 1950s, Nashville was a
hotbed of musical activity. Though known as the center of Country
music, the scene in these days centered to a great deal around
black music, with WLAC radio and independent labels like Bullet,
Excello, Tennessee and Republic playing a big role.
