Wristmeetrazor have announced their third album, Degeneration, the followup
to their great 2021 album Replica of a Strange Love. ItÆs the bandÆs first
album with bassist Userelaine and guitarist Nate Billmyer, and it was
produced, engineered, mixed, and mastered by Randy Lebeouf (The Acacia
Strain, Dying Wish, etc). The first single is ôTrepanation,ö which finds
Wristmeetrazor at their darkest and heaviest. Vocalist Justin Fornof says
they chose it as the first single because ôit summed up the new direction of
the record in the most aggressive way possible.ö
ôThe song is the reflection of a dream I had a few days before flying to New
Jersey to record, I had dreamed that I was in some sort of nightmarish
cooking show that had me cut off my own hand, boil and eat it,ö he continues.
ôAfterwards I looked at the stump where my hand was and felt phantom
movements.ö
ôThe record is about misanthropy and being driven beyond nihilism to hate,
this song is my self-internalization of that. Pain seeks more pain, at least
in my experience.ö
