Michael Tyisik brings his Microscope project back to Squaresonic for
the follow up to 2023's Weather Report. In keeping with his signature
sound, this album is a masterclass in left-of-centre electronic music,
with an understated but irresistible approach. "Pre-Match Settings"
and "Team Appearance" are abstract, stepping tracks that teem with
jazzy, glitchy undercurrents. "Aerobic" and "Loss of Points" both see
Microscope turn his focus towards an electro-influenced style, as
gently rolling drums underpin dusty musical elements. He also touches
on ambient techno on "Second Wind" - an atmospheric, stepping track
that recalls acts like Higher Intelligence Agency and Spacetime
Continuum.
