█ The Antillean singer Ruben (1978) put the █
█ finishing touches on his first album Exceptional █
█ in his current hometown Vienna. After the huge █
█ success of his debut single Be My Lady in █
█ Austria, Ruben has been working hard on the other █
█ tracks for Exceptional in collaboration with the █
█ Austrian producers Werner Stanka and Martin █
█ Gellner. On this debut album Ruben introduces the █
█ audience to his style: his own lyrics in a mix of █
█ soul and R&B with a subtle but specific Caribbean █
█ flavour. █
█ █
█ Apart from the hit Be My Lady the album contains █
█ the soulful Come On, an original composition in █
█ which Ruben takes us back to his childhood in the █
█ 80Æs and 90Æs; a poignant declaration of love in █
█ the ballad Worth it; a swinging fusion of R&B and █
█ Arabic sounds in WhatÆs it gonna be as well as an █
█ ode to his motherland Mi Isla (in Papiamento). █

█ Ruben Heerenveen, born from a Caribbean father █
█ and Dutch mother, grew up on the island of █
█ Curaτao and migrated to Holland as a teenager. █
█ After high school he studied at the School for █
█ the Arts in Amsterdam, formed the acapella █
█ singing group æProspectÆ with his cousins and █
█ worked as a background dancer for Ruth Jacott and █
█ Enrique Iglesias. █
█ At a chance musical audition in Vienna he stood █
█ out because of the combination of his singing and █
█ dancing talents. He decided to move to Vienna █
█ where he played various lead roles in musicals █
█ like Fame, Moby Dick and Jesus Christ Superstar. █
█ Next to his musical career Ruben was always █
█ working hard to fulfil his childhood dream of █
█ becoming a popstar. Since dropping his first █
█ single he has performed various times as a solo █
█ artist. He was the opening act for Shaggy, wrote █
█ and performed the theme song for the Austrian █
█ Lifeball and performed with various Austrian █
█ artists e.g. Christina Stⁿrmer and Tamee █
█ Harisson. █

█ In the competitive German market Ruben has █
█ managed to build a successful dance and musical █
█ career and has scored a hit as a solo artist. █
