Music for restless, reckless peopleà The New Centuries combine the inspired
enthusiasm of Wolf Parade with the electric energy of The Modern Lovers to
create songs that are at once gritty, rhythmic and (when the mood lighting is
right) tragically pretty.
The band met where all things begin in San Francisco: Craigslist. Ryan Bogart
and Heffrey Bissell were frequenting dive bars and churning out Velvet
Underground-inspired bedroom rock tracks when a well-placed ad brought them
together with Sabrina Crawford and her hand-me-down drum kit. Having joined
boy-girl forces the band offers perspectives on lethargy, indulgence and ghosts.
Ryan's gravelly baritone careens from a sneering croon to a hoarse urgent yelp
above washy distorted synths while Heff's slacker bluesmetal guitar rings
through overheated tubes and Sab's steady angular drumming anchors it all in the
center of the Beat.
Hyper, hedonistic and lo-fi, the New Centuries are rockn'roll kids and
