█▓ On the surface- a quiet , mild mannered man, eager to ▓█
█▓ discuss the trivial tribulations of a mundane ▓█
█▓ existence over a nice cup of tea. Beneath the ▓█
█▓ surface- a bruised and lashed mind, seething with ▓█
█▓ festering wounds from a barren, lost and loveless ▓█
█▓ society. The Sinking Citizenship sonically embrace ▓█
█▓ this dichotomy Formed in Melbourne in mid-2002, ▓█
█▓ Matthew Cox (drums), Kristian Roberts (guitar, ▓█
█▓ vocals) and John Forbes (bass) combined influences ▓█
█▓ from the more experimental bands of the early ▓█
█▓ eighties and nineties with the evergreen aesthetic of ▓█
█▓ a ripper tune. ▓█
█▓ ▓█
█▓ Their debut self titled ep was released independently ▓█
█▓ in early 2003. Forged from the remains of late night ▓█
█▓ recording sessions, the ep showcased a band coming to ▓█
█▓ terms with their sound, and received Australia wide ▓█
█▓ airplay plus a smattering of airings on London based ▓█
█▓ Xfm. ▓█
█▓ ▓█
█▓ 2004's debut full length "Broadcasting Germs", ▓█
█▓ rippled with the awkward swagger of the socially ▓█
█▓ inept. Released locally through UXB recordings, the ▓█
█▓ album found its way into the hands of Uk based Sweet ▓█
█▓ Nothing records who promptly released it Europe wide. ▓█
█▓ This, coupled with a limited edition 7-inch vinyl ▓█
█▓ release on Fantastic Plastic records, enabled the ▓█
█▓ band to do a brief reconaissance tour of the UK and ▓█
█▓ Germany over the European summer of 2005. The brutal ▓█
█▓ intensity of the live performances lent themselves ▓█
█▓ well to the German ears, and a strong fan base was ▓█
█▓ formed. ▓█
█▓ ▓█
█▓ With the confidence of the freshly returned ▓█
█▓ traveller, and a reinvigorated belief that they are ▓█
█▓ "the only band out there doing anything interesting", ▓█
█▓ they found themselves back in the studio to record ▓█
█▓ their follow up album- Delete then Repeat. A passion ▓█
█▓ for progression has imbibed this album with a fresh ▓█
█▓ take on the sounds created before, with the songs ▓█
█▓ resonating like hymns to honour the void of humanity. ▓█
