how's this for name-dropping? pete herbert (reverso 68 etc.)
covers flash and the pan's "walking in the rain" (famously used on
dj harvey's "sarcastic disco vol.2" mix) for music for dreams. and
then gets his mates the idjut boys to remix it. the frontera
version is pretty respectful of the original, sticking pretty
close to the spirit but juicing things up with some extra bells
and whistles (not literally of course). the idjuts approach begins
with their fazed percussion, the vox mix distorts the vocals
through an effects box, abridges the bassline and turns things
over in a real deep and dubby 4/4 style, while their dub uses the
more of the bassline hook and some overpowering sounds to bring a
kind of carl craig atmosphere to proceedings.
