The band began in late 2002 while several of its founding ███
members were attending Cal Poly State University in San Luis ███
Obispo, California. The band first formed with Nate Henry on ███
vocals and bass, Dan Koch on drums, and Chris Armstrong on ███
guitar. During the first few months, the band was known as A ███
Long Story Short, and released a short demo album under this ███
name they recorded themselves with some friends. Soon after, ███
Dan switched from drums to guitar with the addition of ███
drummer Joe Greenetz, who had previously been involved in a ███
project called The Push Game. After a short stint with ███
keyboardist Chris Keene, who would go on to play with ███
Christian rock band Number One Gun, the original line-up ███
became solidified with the addition of Mike Leibovich on ███
keyboards. When issues with their name arose in 2003 (there ███
was another band called A Long Story Short playing out of ███
Maryland), the band changed its name to Sherwood. The name ███
was taken from a side project Dan was planning that would ███
involve syncing an album up with Disney's Robin Hood, in a ███
similar vein to the Dark Side of the Moon/The Wizard of Oz ███
(see Dark Side of the Rainbow). ███

After recording a second demo CD called the "These Ruins" EP, ███
Sherwood recorded its self-titled debut EP. The band began a ███
stream of constant touring and promotion, slowly amassing a ███
large fanbase made up of kids who felt refreshed by their ███
authentic approach to rock music. ███

Looking over several offers from record labels, the band ███
chose Militia Group side-label Sidecho Records to release ███
their debut LP. Entitled "Sing, But Keep Going" and produced ███
at Sonikwire Studios in Irvine by Michael Rosas ███
(singer/guitarist for the band Satisfaction), it sold over ███
20,000 copies and helped stir up even more attention for the ███
star-shooting group. In 2005, the sad news was announced that ███
founding guitarist Chris Armstrong was leaving the band to ███
pursue other interests. He was replaced on tour by former ███
Terminal guitarist Lucas Starr, who was replaced by Gabe ███
Dutton in April '06,. The band technically remains a 4-piece. ███

As "Sing, But Keep Going" continued to explode the band, ███
Sherwood began receiving interest from almost every record ███
label of note as they went on to play the Warped Tour and ███
sold-out shows across the country. Pushing the envelope even ███
further was AbsolutePunk.net, who released a free ███
downloadable EP in early 2006 that has since been downloaded ███
some 30,000 times. After holding out for the best possible ███
deal, the band surprised its fans and announced that they had ███
signed to the newly formed Myspace Records. Following a ███
summer full of shows, Sherwood was in Mexico writing their ███
next LP, which they have now just finished recording in San ███
Francisco with producer Lou Giordano. ███
