One of SpainÆs most influential dj/producers Paco Osuna, joins the select group
of Plus 8 artists with this sublime 4 tracker. You
might already know his work from his own imprints Shake and Mindshake or caught
one of his dj sets on the European circuit, if so
then itÆs no surprise to find the CRAZY EP packed full of flowing techno
grooves, innovative arrangements and tricky, melodic
twists.
All four tracks on vinyl are raw, compact bundles of energy, built like Olympic
sprinters, specifically for those hi-octane parts of
the evening. Paco definitely knows what makes the dancefloor tick and itÆs
nowhere more evident than on the title track CRAZY
where the careful layering of sounds cooks up a real storm. The track motors
forward relentlessly as the razor sharp hi-hats
struggle to contain the roving bassline and the acid riff goes into overdrive.
ALSOUND offers further evidence, with its glitchy
intro, discordant bleeps and infectious percussion, it coaxes you in before
surfing a massive digital sinewave back to shore.
JOAKHIM is another strong percussive groove that gets
its claws into you from the off with its scuttling hi-hat patterns. The bubbling
bassline simmers constantly just below boiling point
and a swarm of distorted percussion buzzes feverishly across the surface,
creating an intense blur of kinetic energy. A deep
throbbing bass groove sets the scene on SECHAMPS, as we journey through the
darkness accompanied by a mischievous, dancing
synthline. ItÆs another assured, smooth flowing arrangement that spins out
sideways before regrouping and picking up the trail.
And if thatÆs not enough thereÆs an extra bonus track
for download. CRETINE is a downtempo acid stomper with a menacing bassline that
slowly twists and distorts amid a wash of
disintegrating snare fx. Top class.
