BLEMISH BLACKSTORM - BIOGRAPHY
Since 1998 Blemish Blackstorm has remained a constant presence within the UK hip-hop
scene and has collaborated with such home-grown talent as Skillz, So SolidÆs Asher D,
Rodney P, Taz and Shystie. Blemish is undoubtedly one of the finest MCs that this
country has seen so far and stands comfortably above the rest, both in personality
and lyrical content.
The journey of Blemish Blackstorm as an authentic hip-hop hero has not been easy but
he has overcome the obstacles in the UK music scene (i.e. lack of label support for
UK hip-hop) through relentless self-promotion, travelling up and down the country,
performing at shows and selling CDs that he has written, produced, and featured on.
At only 25 years of age Blemish has produced and distributed a catalogue of albums,
compilations and mix tapes through Strictly Bizzness records (now known as Still
Strictly Bizzness), featuring some of the best talent in the UK. The unwavering
determination of Blemish to push UK hip-hop to the next level has seen him affiliate
freely with another major movement in the UK hip-hop and rÆnÆb scene called Backbone
Music, headed by JJC who has produced amongst many others Big Brovaz, Jamelia, Lemar,
Jay Sean, and Liberty X. Now Blemish Blackstorm has entered into the next stage of
his musical career by merging Still Strictly Bizzness records with BreakProof Ltd, a
music consultancy service that he has recently set up with Danielle Senior.
BlemishÆs involvement in the former Strictly Bizzness has meant that he has secured a
large underground fan-base. Their releases were sold independently via local shops
but also by hustling on the streets across the country. Together with the other acts
Blemish made guest appearances on Tim Westwood's Radio 1 Rap show, Choice FM, and

steady working relationship with Stamina who is now known as Postman, also the
producer of the track æOne wishÆ by Shystie featuring Danielle Senior.
In addition to the Strictly Bizzness releases Blemish has recently released a
compilation of the best talent in the UK entitled æUK's FinestÆ. It features artists
like Big Brovaz, Shystie, Iceberg Slimm, Damage and Cassius Henry.
Blemish has a tone considered by many as unrivalled in expression. It laces the
track æIndependent WomenÆ with confidence, while the equally impressive æPay Pay PayÆ
showcases a deeper, more mature lyrical journey that confronts the difficulties of
rising to the top. Both tracks are taken from his forthcoming mixtape æIt iz What It
izÆ in which the vocal style is hard-hitting and straight to the point. Blemish
describes himself as a hard-working, honest, reliable, focused and determined
individual. With each project Blemish embarks on we see his personal maturity and
musical skill grow to the extent that major success is only a matter of time.
His wish is for UK urban music and UK hip-hop to be given a fair chance by audiences
and labels world-wide: ôI feel the state of the music industry worldwide is going
through a negative transition with piracy and the quality of music in general. Here
in the UK, I feel we have the necessary talent at our disposal to rejuvenate the
state of music. We should therefore be given a fair shot by labels, radio etc. to
exploit and nurture our young talents.ö
Blemish has performed at the Vibrations festival (Burgess Park, South London), The
Bowl festival (Crystal Palace Park, South London), Manchester Academy (opening for
Joe Budden), Plan B (Brixton), Meantime Club (Greenwich) and many more. Catch Blemish

His early musical heroes were Al Green, Michael Jackson, Kenny Rogers and Daddy
Lumba. Blemish has an eclectic musical taste which includes Rock, Soul, Nu-soul,
Indie, RÆnÆB, hipûlife and hip-hop with his favourite artists now being Beverly
Knight, Tupac, Biggie Smalls, Eminem, Timberland, Kanye West, as well as the Strictly
Bizzness and Backbone Music artist rosters.
Music aside BlemishÆs main interests are football and working with computers. Blemish
also works for the internet-based marketing company called 360-X (www.360-x.co.uk),
which deals in the promotion of black music and urban lifestyle. Born in Camberwell
to Ghanaian parents (Blemish lived in Ghana from 1987 û 1994), he now lives in
Peckham, South London.
