▐█ █ The idea and concept of this album started in June 2006 █ █▌
▐█ █ while Hair Corner was invited as guest performer to █ █▌
▐█ █ represent HK for the 5th Beauty Expo held in Tokyo. At █ █▌
▐█ █ that time, Da Jamz (aka JeanMichel Ou) invited as music █ █▌
▐█ █ director, had to design a 10 minutes soundtrack to fit █ █▌
▐█ █ the theme ôhybridö which was expressed visually by a █ █▌
▐█ █ succession of hair creations representing different █ █▌
▐█ █ animals from water, earth and sky, to end up with the █ █▌
▐█ █ ultimate hybrid which is the Dragon. The final Soundtrack █ █▌
▐█ █ was a theatrical music piece merging different music █ █▌
▐█ █ styles from purely ambient to trip-hop, with numerous █ █▌
▐█ █ sampling insertion (animals, water, aircraft etcà) to █ █▌
▐█ █ emphasis each visual effect happening on stage. █ █▌
▐█ █ █ █▌
▐█ █ Hair Corner, one of the most established and leading hair █ █▌
▐█ █ salon in Hong Kong since 1989, has been very focused these █ █▌
▐█ █ few years on diversifying towards art and culture, always █ █▌
▐█ █ upgrading and creating is their ultimate mission. Thus, █ █▌
▐█ █ after returning from Tokyo, Hair Corner wanted to produce █ █▌
▐█ █ their own album and commissioned Da Jamz to do so. █ █▌
▐█ █ █ █▌
▐█ █ Being the co-founder of the me?...we! musical movement in █ █▌
▐█ █ 2004, together with Poon Yuen Leung, it was only logical █ █▌
▐█ █ that ôhybridö to Da Jamz, was another form of the █ █▌
▐█ █ ôMe?...We!ö. Me?...We! is to encourage more █ █▌
▐█ █ collaboration, crossover, exchange between artiste, █ █▌
▐█ █ producer, music style etcà.(more info at http://www.j- █ █▌
▐█ █ sonic.net/mewe.html), and this time, taking a step beyond, █ █▌
▐█ █ to crossover with a brand (Hair Corner) and a designer (we █ █▌
▐█ █ are gang). █ █▌
▐█ █ █ █▌
▐█ █ For this concept album, the main crossover is done at the █ █▌
▐█ █ following levels: █ █▌
▐█ █ █ █▌
▐█ █ music: Most of the music has been designed using some █ █▌
▐█ █ family ôtreasureö which is Da JamzÆs grandmotherÆs █ █▌
▐█ █ recordings (Chinese Opera) from the 60Æs. Actually, Da █ █▌
▐█ █ Jamz has been testing this kind of cross over for some █ █▌
▐█ █ time but never got it to work properly.. Nowadays, with █ █▌
▐█ █ computer technology, it is much easier and faster to █ █▌
▐█ █ handle samples, stretch them, expand or correct pitches. █ █▌
▐█ █ However, the 1st step was to ôcleanö and digitalized those █ █▌
▐█ █ samples, the original recordings were done on a simple █ █▌
▐█ █ cassette tape recorder and were full of cracks and █ █▌
▐█ █ noisesàDa JamzÆs mother, living in Paris, shipped him █ █▌
▐█ █ over 6 hours of live recordings on cassette tapes. █ █▌
▐█ █ █ █▌
▐█ █ The next step was to compose original tunes and at the █ █▌
▐█ █ same time, to fit some of the specific samples (chosen █ █▌
▐█ █ passage from the ôdigitalizedö tapesö) and the outcome █ █▌
▐█ █ worked pretty well. █ █▌
▐█ █ █ █▌
▐█ █ The goal of this album was also to have the music suitable █ █▌
▐█ █ for broadcast in the hair salon as music background, hence █ █▌
▐█ █ the musical style had to fit such purpose.. █ █▌
▐█ █ █ █▌
▐█ █ The final 10 tracks range from Chill out, to hip hop, █ █▌
▐█ █ trip hop and r&b tunes, half of them are instrumental █ █▌
▐█ █ (but, having the Chinese opera vocals samples) and another █ █▌
▐█ █ half are songs featuring some very talented new comers █ █▌
▐█ █ such as Rex Chan Chu Fai, Beto, Tina and Ching Mo. █ █▌

▐█ █ Design: Calling to blend the whole concept with the █ █▌
▐█ █ design, Da Jamz asked Perry Yu from the established trade █ █▌

▐█ █ create a design with impact which could speak by itself. █ █▌
▐█ █ The result is this new wave Chinese mask. Also, to bring █ █▌
▐█ █ more style and value, the 1st 1,000 sets will be packaged █ █▌
