Wild Blue is the master work of a consummate artist, showcasing
Jeanne Newhall's talents as a singer, songwriter, arranger and
pianist. From her unique version of Springsteen's "Hungry Heart"
to her own "Still" and "Ancient" (the heart and soul of the
album), these multi-genre tracks (jazz, folk, pop) charm you and
keep drawing you in.
A mix of contemporary and original material, WILD BLUE opens
with Bruce SpringsteenÆs "Hungry Heart" and closes with "Those
Foolish Things" ("ItÆs the kiss at the end."). NewhallÆs
poignant, powerful delivery brings a new intimacy to the
formerÆs bittersweet lyrics and indelible melody, and her savvy
take on the Marvell & Strachey jazz standard bookend a
collection that takes the listener through the borderlands of
life and love, heart and soul. The albumÆs introspective title
track was written by Nashville-based Grammy-winner Marcus Hummon
and Kent E. Blazey.
Seven of the albumÆs ten songs are NewhallÆs own, and each one
is a showcase for the versatility of her talents as singer,
pianist and writer.
