In every good science fiction series there's always an
episode where somebody manages to "freeze time". Doctor
Who's done it (more than once), I'm sure Star Trek's
managed to pull it out of the bag... heck even Quantum
Leap must have attempted it at some point, it's just one
of those sci-fi staples that gets you thinking "wow
that's great, what if I could do that?". Well it seems
London based emporium Expanding Records have made some
serious scientific advances that they're keeping from the
military as listening to this compilation I could have
sworn they had stopped time about six years ago. Nothing
has changed, nothing at all - even the artists are
largely the same - Benge, Bauri, Maps + Diagrams...and
whatsmore the quality is as high as its always been. It's
a bit like a long lost ex girlfriend and all you have
left is a drawer full of raunchy pictures... we've still
got our idm collection hidden somewhere, but we only fish
it out when we're feeling particularly low. So, to sum
up, its all very nostalgic and really quitre great,
there's even new remixes thrown in from Cathode, Am/Pm
and Boomkat faves Tunng... yum. Oh, did we mention this
compiles the second set of 7" releases on Expanding (you
know, the ones that smell great)? We have now.
