Release Notes:

When asked to write a short biographical history of our own band we knew it
would be a monumental undertaking, on par with remembering to brush our teeth
and not eating in the bathroom. Yes from the start that this task could in fact
claim all of our lives. None the less, we decided to dance with destiny and type
a few paragraphs on our home computer.
It turns out this is easier said that done. We soon realized that we can barely
remember our short, weekly work schedules, to say nothing of recalling major
events from our lives. No, simply sitting still for two seconds and
concentrating isn't going to get us out of this bind. Oh no, this time we would
have to rely on our skills as archeologists if we were going to pierce the thick
shroud that had fallen over the last three years.
Our oldest records showed that we had once lived in an ancient far away land
called Idaho Falls, so this would be our starting point. With the aid of a
federal grant we assembled a crack team of scientists (the best of the best
really) and went to Idaho to learn from the natives. Once in Idaho we realized
that our task may prove more daunting than we may have first expected as there
existed limited technology and a decaying social system. Luckily we were able to
quickly make contact with the tribal elders who kept insisting that they were
our "parents" and that we had lived in Idaho all our lives and attended high
school together. They continuously made reference to ancient manuscripts
depicting our so called "birthdays" and "family outings." The validity of these
sources is questionable. They also claimed that three of us (Aaron, Bob and
Damon) had attended a place called college for a year while one of us (John) had
moved to another village called Michigan. Convincing as it was this all may turn
out to be part of our "parents" elaborate myths of creation, nothing more than
another example of how the savages use tales of fancy to make sense of the
overwhelming power of nature*. We later began to excavate several sites around
the village of Idaho Falls to see what clues the artifacts of this culture might
divulge. Several earthenware jars and pots were found and drawn upon a number of
them were elaborate murals depicting us driving for fourteen hours to
California, in an open topped Jeep, to record the demos of the first songs we
completed as a band. Also shown on the jars was how a trucker named Ron had seen
us driving in the rain and offered to strap our jeep on his flat bed and take us
to Vegas. We accepted.
The trail would eventually lead us to a dig site in Vista Ca. where we
discovered an abundance of papyrus tomes that had somehow survived the
tyrannical yet fumbling reign of an ancient ruler named "WBush" who once
attempted to destroy all written books that were not the Bible. These texts
described a brief but culturally rich portion of our history. We had apparently
migrated to California as to avoid the bitter northern frost and live in a more
musically appropriate locale than the Cro-Magnon city state of Idaho. We
discovered that we had dwelt in a simple structure called a "two bedroom guest
house." (This so- called guest house seems to be architecturally descendent from
dwellings found in the Congo and parts of sub-Sahara Africa.) It appears that
once we migrated to Vista we established a set of simple moral codes and
traditions that included time honored tribal rituals like "drive everyone to
work using just one car" and "dig a huge hole in the back yard because it's
flooding with rain water again." We also created a unique but rudimentary form
of communication based on something called "The English Language." One day when
partaking in a heathen ritual known by some as "rehearsal" we met another tribal
group. Though our customs and religions seemed very different at the offset, it
appears that we easily formed a strong bond with these fellow nomads. We surmise
that our group bartered with them regularly. The goods we exchanged ranged from
women, decorative shells and staple crops to their gear, which they began
loaning to us about a year and a half ago and to this day still constitutes the
majority of our equipment.
The texts also gave vague mention of a man named Cupps or Jason. Though little
is known of his past he apparently served as the ungodly witchdoctor to the men
of other groups. We found hundreds of human skulls and other remains littering
night clubs where they had played suggesting that he routinely partook in human
sacrifice while doing live sound. By following this trail of death we realized
that our band had actually accompanied another band on a strange pilgrimage
which is called a "tour" in some native cultures. This tour began around the
middle of April of 2005 A.D., lasted for approximately two months in all and (as
far as we can tell) stretched across the entire continent of north America. The
dates of this tour are suspected to have coincided with the winter solstice as
to given thanks to the beer gods for the past years bounty.
It appears that this unholy journey ended back in Vista California, but we did
not inhabit that area for much longer. Apparently our primitive instincts made
it possible for us to sense that the region was becoming geologically unstable
and housing was overpriced. The only way to avoid catastrophe was to once again
uproot and move our entire culture. This lead us back to our own house in
Temecula, which held secrets that have survived since times long forgotten.
There is an area in out kitchen, next to the sink, that is actually an ancient
limestone riverbed. From this layered sediment we exhumed several documents that
turned out to be "power bills," "gas bills," "phone bills," "internet bills,"
"court summonses," "bar tabs," "subpoenas," "tit-bar flyers," "jury duty
notices," "comic book receipts," and "IOUs." These offered little information
and were promptly burned. We also unearthed several crude implements suggesting
that we were using iron and copper utensils as early as 2005 A.D. and were
performing brain surgery on one another quite often. As luck would have it a
local native man approached our encampment and offered just the information we
were seeking. He claimed to be our neighbor and said that we had been writing an
album since we got back from tour and then recorded it in San Diego with the
help of the all powerful shaman Jason Cupp. In addition he asserted that since
the albums completion we have been rehearsing in our garage and playing shows
once in a while, waiting for someone to hand us a one way ticket to rich land.
Until we can further substantiate these claims they are to be taken as local
legends or tall tales.
