█ Born in Little Rock, Arkansas, Karlis has always █
█ loved the art of music. At a young age he heard █
█ the voices of Walter Hawkins, Rance Allen, Leon █
█ Patillo, Donny Hathaway, Al Jarreau and many █
█ others. His mom and dad also sang at several █
█ churches in Little Rock and on occasions Karlis █
█ would be put in charge of running the sound. █
█ Karlis often imagined he was a famous singer in █
█ concert in his bedroom, performing his own songs. █
█ He fell in love with his dad's digital delay █
█ machine, reel to reels, tape players, whatever █
█ sounded like music. █
█ █
█ In 1987 Karlis and his family moved form a █
█ smaller Little Rock to a larger Riverside, █
█ California. The California climate urged Karlis █
█ to write more songs and dream of making it. █
█ Karlis and his brother, Curtis "Lex Luther" █
█ Abraham started rapping over famous beats. They █
█ looped the break of the song by recording a bar █
█ or two, pause the tape then record another bar or █
█ two. After so many takes they had a couple of █
█ minutes to flow. While in High School Karlis and █
█ some friends formed a singing group called 4 Da █
█ Blaque. They wrote their own songs with the help █
█ of some local producers. They performed their █
█ songs at Moreno Valley High School events, local █
█ talent shows and the local college functions like █
█ Cal State, San Bernardino and University of █
█ California in Riverside. While in college Karlis █
█ and his brother formed a rapp group; dubbed The █
█ WaxinÆ Unit and later The Wise Guys. They made █
█ their own beats and recorded their own tracks. █
█ Karlis also started playing the piano during this █
█ time. He often experimented for hours in the █
█ practice rooms of the University (CSU, San █
█ Bernardino). Eager to bring his creations to life █
█ he formed his first band Coincidence in 1997. █
█ They worked around campus performing their █
█ originals. █
█ █
█ In 2000 Karlis hooked up with The GRK Project. █
█ Gary Henderson, the director of the project, █
█ encouraged Karlis to bring his keyboard to █
█ practice. Gary taught Karlis chord structures and █
█ progressions along with some helpful theory. With █
█ a new found confidence Karlis began gigging with █
█ the group and never looked back. The group has █
█ performed all over the IE and turned a few heads █
█ along the way. The GRK Project was eventually █
█ redubbed Seven Ave. In the 4th quarter of 2005 █
█ Karlis and Gary shared the dream to create First █
█ Mile Productions. ôStill We Rideö, the debut █
