     Amazon says:

     I "lost" my vinyl copy of "Switched On Bach" some 25 years ago, it
     simply wore out! I was never able to replace on CD, until now! And
     those 25 years have shrunk into blissful delight as I relieve this
     innovative masterpiece. A beautiful collection which sounds sharp
     and fluid. The whole presentation of this set is immaculate. Okay,
     so I am biased. Time has not lessened the power of this work.
     Hailed as a "Masterpiece" on its release in 1968(!) and recipient
     of many awards and accolades. It paved the way for Jarre, Vangelis
     and a myriad of others. Wendy Carlos is the professor. The entire
     set has been painstakingly remastered and honed to perfection. The
     amazing thing is that despite the fact that all pieces are
     performed on "prototype" Moog synthesisers, it all compliments
     Bach's genius. I feel sure that he would be honoured! If you like
     Bach. If you like fluid, melodic and refined electronic
     music.Please do not miss this set. It is a pleasure. But, this is
     not just about Bach. Disc II - "The Well Tempered Synthesiser" -
     is gorgeous! The disc features slightly less well known music by
     Monteverdi and Scarlatti, along with some Water Music from Handel
     and a little more Bach! But it is the pieces by the former which
     shine. Gems of effervescent renaissance. Carlos skips across the
     keys generating the most enchanting "trills and spills"
     imaginable! The two pieces by Monteverdi are simply divine. In
     fact, of the four CDs, disc 2 is my favourite. So, there you have
     it, a very brief 'perception' of a magical set. You also get a few
     interactive "toys" as well whereby one can play their own Moog
     synthesiser! There are also pictures, histories, etc. etc. But the
     main thing is the music.One may find it hard to believe that much
     of it was recorded over 30 years ago! It may not be everybody's
     glass of wine but for me personally the words 'superb' and
     'exquisite' cry out in the applause of this set. Enjoy if you can.
     If you dare!

     CD4 also has some enhanced bits on it, which have been left off
     this release in an attempt to get you to buy it. The whole set
     also comes with 2(!) books.
