all scots in the house - bergie vogts gets pressure again! the
first remix ep following joseph malik's debut album release
includes mixes by grand unified and aqua bassino - two killer
tunes here, check them out.
"futuristica" grand unified house not house remix
grand unified is the alter ego of outer hebrides born dj, musician
and songwriter kenny macleod (aka dj unify). based in scotland's
capital city edinburgh, he is a good friend of joseph malik - they
recorded together the track "music makes me feel this way" which
came out on hospital records' compilation "out patients vol. 1".
his remix of "futuristica" kicks off with a cool vocal pattern
groove, which is surrounded by some nice string sounds. later
after a break the track evolves into a big groover with a cool
beat arrangement - a mixture between offbeats and house - and a
fantastic bassline. malik's vocals harmonise perfectly, that's
future tech soul for the dancefloor at its best.
"take it all in and check it all out" aqua bassino's groove mix
aqua bassino (scots born jason robertson) is one of the big names
at laurent garnier's label f-communication. currently he resides
in edinburgh and lives right next door to joseph malik. his remix
is a sublime house track - beats and bass provide the fundament
for malik's vocals and together it grooves like most of bassino's
pumping big floor fillers - played out by all the bigger house and
minimal house djs around the globe. the bassdrum...you know the
score. recently aqua bassino released the single 'baby c'mon' on
f-com featuring remixes by ron trent amongst others.
