Joe 90 is an alternative rock band, which was formed from the group Gods Child,
based in New York City, and was later relocated to Los Angeles. Crowded House
fans who aren't content to settle for a Neil Finn solo album every few years may
well appreciate Joe 90. The four-piece band's debut,
Dream This, offers a similar meld of thoughtful lyrics and catchy, vibrant
pop-rock marked by Chris Seefried's ever-so-slightly sandpapery vocals.
Appealing on first listen, the disc reveals depth after a few plays; while
tracks such as "Ferris Wheel" and "Mascara" rely as much on craft as art,
they're also hard to say no to. A healthy measure of the Lennonesque also makes
the likes of "Truth" and "Super Hero" sound familiar while belonging very much
to the group.
