RELNOTES..:
Casey Nefcy, also known under the dj moniker Spacecase, has been djing for over
9 years. He has played venues across the United States, Canada and Europe.
Trying to compare his style to any one else╞s would be impossible simply because
of the fact that Casey Nefcy does not like to be pigeon holed into one single
genre. In Casey╞s words ⌠Before I was a dj I was a musician, so naturally I like
all styles of music, as long as it╞s good music!÷ The only way to understand his
style and musical taste is to experience the vibe produced on the dance floor
while he is playing.
Casey Nefcy has been a musician since the age of 6 and has been classically
trained in numerous instruments ranging from stringed to wind to electronic.
Having learned a multitude of instruments he finally came around to the
turntables. He instantly fell in love with them and knew that decks were for
him. After djing for a few years Casey started to notice that a lot of records
that he was listening to while shopping were almost but not quite to his liking,
which lead to his beginning in producing original tracks. After producing for
about a year, he decided to take his audio engineering knowledge to the next
level by attending audio engineering school. This in turn led to three degrees
in audio engineering, two Associate Degrees and eventually a Bachelors Degree
from Ex╞pression Center for New Media in Emeryville, California.
Over the past five years Casey has been building up his studio to a quite
impressive facility known as Counterw8. In his spare time he is busy producing
various acts in the Hip √ Hop, Salsa, Rock and Electronic genres along with his
own productions. Throughout his dj career Casey has also been doing underground
parties with his company Psyonics. These have ranged from underground to
massives. Casey Nefcy has always strived to bring unique and innovative music to
the listeners and dancers.
In 1997 Casey Nefcy joined the AudioRise Promotional Company as a Director of
Promotions. AudioRise worked alongside USC (United State of Consciousness) to
bring the biggest and best parties to the North West of the United States. The
parties that were done had in excess of 15,000 people and the national and
international talent booked is too long to even start mentioning. In 1999 Casey
started the first weekly 2 Step / UK Garage night in Seattle called Mind the
Gap. It was very successful and caught on like wildfire. By the time he closed
down the club night a little over a year and a half later there were three other
2 Step / UK Garage weeklies going that were inspired by the new flavor and
incredible music that Mind the Gap had presented to the city.
In 2000 Om records of San Francisco, California decided to create a sister label
to cater to the burgeoning 2 Step / UK Garage breaks scene known as colourforms.
As an avid 2 Step / UK garage fan, Casey Nefcy is currently producing and
engineering the colourforms sound as well as representing it behind the decks.
