City Slang is proud to announce the signing of the
Chicagoan power-trio The Jai Alai Savant. Their debut
album Flight of The Bass Delegate, itÆs already destined
to be one of the outstanding records of 2007. Mastermind
and singer Ralph Darden is one of the most gifted,
multitalented guys weÆve ever met. HeÆs a hyperactive DJ
(Major Taylor) who also put on shows and partys with
Diplo and Hollertronix from his old hometurf Philadelphia,
heÆs down with the scene around Spankrock, Diplo and
Flosstradamus. He is a Jiu Jitsu fighter as well as a
comic artist, a full-on science fiction nerd, a D.I.Y.
punk icon (former singer of Franklin), he's featured in
the documentary "Afro Punk" and and and... In short, he
is a genius, heÆs the fucking jump off. He has many a
story to tell and is a nonstop motormouth who will blow
your journalists away with his endless tales and his
genuine enthusiasm. He is, what they call a real character.
The band (featuring Jeremy Gewertz on drums and Dan Nash
Snyder on bass) cut their teeth touring with The Flesh, The
Gossip and Ted Leo And The Pharmacists and became
irresistible live performers. So captivating that they have
offers from all over Europe to come and play, even without
a record out. In Scandinavia they entered the college radio
charts just because of one(!) show and a bunch of furiously
burned CD-Rs. WeÆre very excited about the video for their
hit single White On White Crime. It was produced by Andreas
Nilsson (SwedenÆs answer to Michel Gondry who has recently
worked with THE KNIFE and DEPECHE MODE).
