By now, everyone surely mustÆve heard of Aidan BakerÆs
name in contemporary ambient music. With his various
musical projects (Aidan Baker, Nadja, ARC, Mnemosyne),
Aidan Baker has conquered the world with countless
releases on a very large number of labels in a vaste
array of countries.
Meanwhile, Eric Quach has only released one EP
as Thisquietarmy to this date, as his post-shoegaze
band Destroyalldreamers keeps him very busy.
The collaboration was done by exchanging guitar
tracks back and forth through postmail, completing
each otherÆs addition to the different musical pieces.
The result: Orange. A very intense & sad affair.
The mix of both ambient guitar styles very much
completes each other in unexpected ways...
Drone minimalism versus low-end rumbles
versus post-rock notes versus gazey textures
versus ambient meditation versus breathlessness.
The EP is a very dense cinematic adventure,
as a whole. Each track dips one into another,
shifting moods and imageries around, molding the
record into one single flowing piece that gets
unexpectedly cut off, as a harsh way to pull
the listener out of its hypnotic state.
