"The esteemed Mirror duo has ceased to be, with the two primary
operators of that magnificent drone ensemble (Andrew Chalk and
Christoph Heemann) parting ways. Whatever reasons those might be,
we will leave those between Mr. Chalk and Mr. Heemann. That said,
Andrew Chalk has now presented his first solo publication after
the dissolution of Mirror in Shadows From the Album Skies.
Actually the two lengthy recordings that comprise this CD had
actually appeared in ultra-small CD-R editions on Mirror's Three
Poplar's imprint, but in all likelihood, very few of you had
actually been lucky enough to obtain either of these CD-Rs. To
keep this review short and sweet, these two recordings are
absolutely stunning. This is timbral minimalism at its finest, in
which Chalk maintains a singleminded and heavenly tone which could
simply be outstretched guitar drones or the complexities from a
long-stringed instrument. We are very proud to have this album
available through our website, and we hope that you will be

Andrew Chalk has been active since 1985 as Ferial Confine and has
worked with many associates over the years, such as David Jackman
(in Organum), Vortex Campaign, New Blockaders, The, Darren Tate
(2) (in Ora), Giancarlo Toniutti, Jonathan Coleclough, and
Christoph Heemann (in Mirror). He has now released a number of
releases under his own name which have won widespread acclaim, on
labels such as Robot Records, Christoph Heemann's Streamline label
and his own Faraway Press label. The Mirror project released a
steady string of stunnng, highly sought-after records in limited
quantites and Chalk's releases on Faraway Press have followed this
aesthetic.
