│ In a year when millions of major-label dollars will be squandered on │
│ ersatz electronic music outfits, this youthful French duo strikes out │
│ with a debut album so bracing it will make even returning techno-vets │
│ like the Chemical Brothers and Orbital sound sickly. Daft Punk boasts │
│ a remarkable gift for infusing lucid pop melodies with blaring │
│ electronic sound effects and jackhammer house beats. Homework is │
│ highlighted by the dizzying, wiry themes of songs like "Da Funk," │
│ "Rollin' & Scratchin'," and "Oh Yeah." The disc climaxes with the │
│ muscular grooves, disco handclaps and rabid buzzing of "Rock 'n' │
│ Roll," an animated 7:30 minute epic that confirms the band's status │
 │ as electronica's brightest new hopes. │
 │ │
│ The limited edition of the 1996 album was released together with the │
│ single "Around the world" and is also sold as More Music Version. │
