█ █▓█ Electronic label, Poeta Negra, has a batch of new █▓█ █
█ █▓█ releases out this month, including Greek musician █▓█ █
█ █▓█ Spyros Polychronopoulos. Wetsound Orchestra is █▓█ █
█ █▓█ certainly a strong release, comprising of nauseating █▓█ █
█ █▓█ ambient music that is both dark and glitch-fuelled. █▓█ █
█ █▓█ █▓█ █
█ █▓█ The album's opener, Cellar, sets the template for █▓█ █
█ █▓█ what's too follow, as lengthy synth drones float amidst █▓█ █
█ █▓█ reverb-drenched samples, drips, cuts and clicks. Muddy █▓█ █
█ █▓█ beats then add a spongy layer beneath intermittent █▓█ █
█ █▓█ piano chords û this is a perfect cross between █▓█ █
█ █▓█ stimulating home listening material and soundtrack. █▓█ █
█ █▓█ █▓█ █
█ █▓█ Wetsound Orchestra rarely deviates from this mode, █▓█ █
█ █▓█ except to introduce subtly different atmospheres and a █▓█ █
█ █▓█ selection of incoherent speech samples. However, there █▓█ █
█ █▓█ are plenty of highs and lows within the breadth of █▓█ █
█ █▓█ Polychronopoulos's work û when the synths lines are █▓█ █
█ █▓█ adding layered tones the music has presence, when █▓█ █
█ █▓█ they're missing the album can sound stark and lacking █▓█ █
█ █▓█ in sensation, yet this is sometimes compensated for by █▓█ █
█ █▓█ some tidily intricate programming, which itself makes █▓█ █
█ █▓█ for inspiring listening. █▓█ █
█ █▓█ █▓█ █
█ █▓█ The closing Should Be A Spell is maybe the best of the █▓█ █
█ █▓█ bunch, introducing warm synths, dulcet, dubby beats and █▓█ █
█ █▓█ violin strings û it's an excellent slice of esoteric █▓█ █
█ █▓█ electronica that, in retrospect, makes you wish the █▓█ █
█ █▓█ rest of the album had been more colourful. █▓█ █
█ █▓█ █▓█ █
█ █▓█ A remix album also accompanies, featuring the original █▓█ █
█ █▓█ album manipulated by some vaguely familiar underground █▓█ █
█ █▓█ artists such as Alva Noto, B.Fleischman, and Horchata û █▓█ █
█ █▓█ mastered by Fernando Corona, aka Murcof. The result is, █▓█ █
█ █▓█ for the most part, a much more alert re-interpretation █▓█ █
█ █▓█ of tracks that, as you might expect, lacks the fluency █▓█ █
█ █▓█ of the original album. I think some of the artists on █▓█ █
█ █▓█ show have perhaps struggled to produce anything other █▓█ █
█ █▓█ than quite functional glitch music here. █▓█ █
█ █▓█ █▓█ █
