"Skull Disco 6 finally available!!! New Skull Disco 12"s
are always more than welcome round these parts,
consistently providing us with an entry into the darker
recesses of the dubstep psyche and constantly upping the
ante in a sometimes slow moving scene requiring new
directions and ideas. In the early days of DMZ and FWD
Laurie and Sam Skull disco were always to be seen skanking
out wildstyle to the freshest fwd thinking riddims around,
compared to the wall hugging regulars doing their best to
hold it back. Interpreting the mandate of dubstep to mean
a new method of creating fresh physical movements on the
dancefloor (read: not plodding halfstep monotony),
Appleblim has reached a new pinnacle with his beat
programming by creating a wide open B.C influenced
electro-stepper intended for deep dancefloor
interpretations. On his share of the plate Shackleton
contracts the groove into a claustrophobic headspace,
sucked deep under with his unique style of subbass
craftsmanship which will only become apparent at neighbour
annoying volume levels. As ever the percussion is drawn
from somewhere in the mid-east, melodius thunks of
labyrinthine micro timbres revolving and evolving into and
about themselves with a fluidity pretty much unmatched
within the scene. A mention must be given to the extra
special artwork from Skull Disco's in-house designer Zeke
who has excelled himself with a vision of Egyptian imagery
refracted through an acid fried mind, quite brilliant.
Skull Disco deliver the full package...killer twelve!"
