███▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀ - RELEASE NOTES - ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀███
█░ ░█
█░ "What could be more appropriate for a series that embodies ░█
█░ all that was swinging, cool and hip about the fifties and ░█
█░ sixties than an anthology dedicated to the sounds of Las ░█
█░ Vegas? The latest edition of the Ultra-Lounge collection, ░█
█░ Vegas Baby!, is due in stores September 17th. It's packed ░█
█░ with vintage Vegas-centric music! Dean Martin is on the ░█
█░ money with 'Who's Got the Action?,' Sammy Davis, Jr. chips ░█
█░ in with 'Ain't That A Kick In The Head' and Peggy Lee adds ░█
█░ 'Big Spender' to the mix. This brings the total number of ░█
█░ releases to 25 in the Grammy(r)-winning Ultra Lounge Series. ░█
█░ While Dino and the guys were tearing up the Copa Room at ░█
█░ The Sands, Louis Prima and Keely Smith were wowing them in ░█
█░ the Casbah Lounge at the Sahara with their frenzied ░█
█░ rendition of 'That Old Black Magic,' Keely's lovely 'On The ░█
█░ Sunny Side of the Street' and Louie's highly personal ░█
█░ interpretation of 'Pennies From Heaven.' Farther up The ░█
█░ Strip at The Flamingo Bobby Darin had them all snapping ░█
█░ their fingers to tunes like 'Once In A Lifetime.' ░█
█░ Even singers not usually remembered now as 'Vegas acts' ░█
█░ were hugely popular back in the days when 'the boys' were ░█
█░ running the town and they're well represented here: Judy ░█
█░ Garland with 'Lucky Day,' Nat King Cole with 'I'm Shooting ░█
█░ High' and Mel Torme's 'Games People Play.' ░█
█░ Sadly most of these great acts have taken their last bows, ░█
█░ but not all of them. You can still catch Tony Bennett ░█
█░ (represented here with Count Basie) belting out 'With Plenty ░█
█░ of Money and You,' Vic Damone's velvety 'Something's Comin' ' ░█
█░ Jack Jones swinging with 'This Could Be The Start of Something ░█
█░ Big,' Steve Lawrence crooning 'Night And Day' and Tom Jones ░█
█░ swiveling to 'It's Not Unusual.' ░█
█░ Finally, no collection of Vegas songs would be complete ░█
█░ without something from Mr. Las Vegas, Wayne Newton. The ░█
█░ Midnight Idol is still going strong on The Strip and when he ░█
█░ sings his kitschy/classic 'Danke Schoen' and the lush ░█
█░ 'Shangri-la,' nostalgia is what it used to be. Champagne ░█
█░ corks are popping and the one-armed bandits are clanging in ░█
█░ the background. ░█
█░ ░█
█░ For anyone wishing they could climb into a time machine that ░█
█░ would transport them back to the Las Vegas of the Rat Pack ░█
█░ days, this latest release in the Ultra-Lounge series may be ░█
█░ the next-best thing. It's Vegas Baby!" -UltraLounce.com blip ░█
█░ ░█
█░ This is the 25th compilation in the family of Ultra-Lounge ░█
█░ compilations, since the first fuzzy Leopard Skin Sampler ░█
█░ back in 1996, including two christmas albums and two ░█
█░ "covers" compilations. Sticking to some theme for each ░█
█░ compilation, Ultra-Lounge is really fun stuff. Sit back, ░█
█░ close your eyes, and pretend you are loungin' it up in Sin ░█
█░ City with the Rat Pack and other Kings and Queens of the ░█
