Pandamonium and label founder Norma Jean have both been quiet as of
late but in the late 90s they put together a deliciously chilled
house with the spotlight on NJB's sweet sax and vocal stylings.
Some of the Panadmonium cuts received wider exposure on KDJ, Fnac,
Funky Chocolate and Peacefrog releases.
PR 18 features two tracks (same on both sides) written by Debbie
Welch and Norma Jean Bell with KDJ credited for a mix. Oddly
enough, our pick is the Planet mix over the KDJ one, keeping more
of the salacious vocals and adding a nice bridge to the groove.
KDJ mix is focused squarely on the groove here and moves the vocals
to the back. Do you want to party? Hell YES, girl.
Fun fact? Seems that Norma Jean got her chops playing with Zappa's
Mothers of Invention in the mid 70s.
