I don't quite get this "new rave" tag that's been stupidly
pushed by a certain mag, when there's nothing remotely
rave about a band who sound more like pop-punk with that
jerky guitar sound Bloc Party have done to death.
Pull Tiger Tail aren't however, as easily dismissable or
predictable as the last statement outlined above,
thankfully. They do in fact offer something fairly
original into the current forray of up-and-coming bands.
Mr 100 Percent is a clash of juddering, angular new-wave
guitars and juddering Public Image bass, with some killer
off-key riffage. It's just the vocals and stomping dancey
nature of the chorus recalls Kele and Co. too much to
warrant it a label of true originality.
Big things are expected from Pull Tiger Tail, especially
since inking a deal with B-Unique (Ordinary Boys, Kaiser
Chiefs). Just forget the shameful label you may have
already heard about the three-piece and pick up the single
today.
