Release Notes:

Not really jazz, not really pop, not really
lo-fi... somewhere inbetween.

A saxophone-player, singer, songwriter and arranger
from Bergen in Norway, Helen Eriksen released her
debut record "Standards" back in 1997, on the
legendary label Blue Note. On this album she
collaborated with famous Norwegian hip-hop producer
Tommy Tee, creating a unique mix of pop and jazz
with a hip-hop feel.

1998 saw the release of "Lovevirgin", a refined
continuation of her work with Tommy Tee and Blue
Note. Like her debut, "Lovevirgin" was also
released throughout Europe and Japan.

In 2000, with a new approach and a new label
(Curling Legs), Helen put out "City Dust". This was
Helen's first record backed by a more regular combo
and thus many anticipated a pure jazz record this
time. But in collaboration with producer J°rgen
Trµen (Magnet, Jaga Jazzist, Sondre Lerche), Helen
instead provided echoes of cool jazz and bossa nova
in soundscapes reminiscent of contemporary pop
outcasts like Bertrand Burgalat and Cornelius.

This release, "Small hall classic", came out in
March 2006, and is her fourth album. Produced by
The Sensible Twins, written by Helen Eriksen and
mixed by Tommy Tee.
