Time & Tide is the hungrily awaited follow up to BiasÆ critically
acclaimed debut album Worry Beads. Through the thirteen tracks on this
double platter feast that distinctive Bias sound is pushed into deeper
territory and taken to dizzying new heights.
From the instant the album begins the listener is plunged into an
expansive whirlpool of soundscapes that draw on a vast array of
influences from all across the plains of musical history. With an
inventive and deeply musical approach a host of styles are thrown into
the mix from folk to hip-hop, through classical and sixties psychedelia,
to rock, funk, electro and beyond and treated to the trademark Bias touch
of magic.
Densely layered with arrangements that are at times both upbeat and
melancholic Cold Night, Squandered Love, through the heavy funk of ItÆs A
Must and soulful vibe of Promise Me to the dark, brooding, and thought
provoking title track Time & Tide.
Retaining the dark humour, wit and narrative sense first shown on Worry
Beads, here Bias retells stories of hope and of loss, of longing for
something or someone, a place in time. Recalling the memories of days
gone and the unknown promise of what is yet to come, the ebb and flow and
unstoppable passage of both time and tide, that waits for no man.
If thereÆs anyone out there who thinks that thereÆs nothing new to be
done within this musical sphere, this album might just blow your mind.
