sinebag focusses on the combination of music and
sound, it's mostly charcterized
by a warm, analog ambience. the songs have a
collage-like character, aiming at
constructing fields rather than common song
structures. acoustic instruments
(guitars, piano, voices, sounds) are used as well as
synthetic elements which leads to a mixture of live
recorded and compositional created passages. a central
idea is to integrate fieldrecordings - longer
recordings as ambient backings or sounds you may hear
everyday like those in a kitchen.
the inspiration by everyday sounds and fieldrecorded
ambiences isn't limited to the use of these as
instruments but influences the compositons as such.
sequences and rhythmic structures therefore build
patterns inspired by the sound surrounding us all the
time. this idea of creating fields is not bound to
instruments or genres. they can be achieved
by noise, experimental electronics, or as on the
current release by monotonous guitarpatterns. the
variety of approaches is illustrated by the
collaborations with different musical projects
rangings from folk to free jazz.
on the second album "prΦs de la lisiΦre" sinebag
focusses even more on the approach of a continous
soundfield which was already part of the concept for
"milchwolken in teein". on this record all
fieldrecordings and compositions form one long track
without interuptions. songs and soundrecordings are
present in the same amount. this interweaving, an
adaption of the surrounding everyday soundscape, is
the aim of the field creation.
the compositions feature mostly acoustic instruments -
guitars, piano and organs form the basis of the
material.
these elements are processed and enriched by
electronic synthesis.
the title "prΦs de la lisiΦre" (close to the border)
reflects in several ways the contant of the record. it
points at the nearness of the music to sound and the
closeness of this album to no music at all.
about ahornfelder:
prΦs de la lisiere is the second release on
ahornfelder. it emphasizes the use of creating fields
by using feildrecordings and repetitive guitar
pickings. it forms the most silent approach to the
field-idea behind the label.
this shows that the constant flow can be created by
laid back folk-like pickings, whereas trnn does a
similar thing with constant noise-feedback-drones and
yuichiro fujimoto uses silence and spaces as a source
of constancy. that is why the releases of the label
capture a broad selection of genres, looking in each
one for these loose srucures so that you can find
folk, noise, free jazz and contemporary classical
music in the label catalog.
