The debut release on Tinpot compiles some of his personal re-edits
and breaks which have featured in his DJ sets over the last couple
of years, rocking dance-floors across the world from London to
Moscow and LA to Shibuya.
"Love Shock" is an oft-overlooked Chi-Lites B-side that has been
re-edited into a mid-tempo piano-led stomper already championed by
Gilles Peterson, Patrick Forge and Dom Servini whilst its follow up
"Message" is a heavy Patrice Rushen album track never before
released on a 12. "Funghi Mama" is unmistakably the work of Tom
Browne whose adventures in synthesised bass technology are
recognisable from his hit side Jamaica Funk. "Funghi Mama" however
is a disco belter with an African chant and guitar lick running
through it. Teased out into an epic club joint replete with synth
squelches and bleeps, this is reminiscent of the best re-edit work
of Tango Terje and will find a welcome home in many a house DJs
box.
