Release Notes:
POLLY PAULUSMA(www.pollypaulusma.com) started
playing her guitar- and piano-based songs on
London's acoustic circuit in 2001 and never looked
back. She was half-way through making her first
album at home when One Little Indian signed her in
2003. The resulting debut, Scissors In My Pocket,
came out in the UK in April 2004 to critical
acclaim. She toured the album extensively throughout
2004/2005, supporting Bob Dylan, Coldplay, Ben &
Jason, Gary Jules, Jamie Cullum, Marianne Faithfull,
The Divine Comedy, Joseph Arthur and Johnathan Rice,
as well as UK/European headline tours of her own.
She is now back with her new album Fingers & Thumbs
due for release in May 2007. "the finest young
British female singer-songwriter to emerge over the
last 12 months" **** Uncut Magazine (UK):
Having been recently snapped up by Island Records
WALLIS BIRD has quickly earned a reputation for
being a charismatic and mesmerising performer. A
self-taught guitarist, WallisÆ style is totally
unique. Following a childhood accident which damaged
her left hand, she learned to play her instrument
with it flipped upside down so that the strings are
back to front. Wallis has therefore invented her own
chord fingerings which inevitably contribute to her
distinctive playing style and what Wallis describes
as her own æspecial mojoÆ.
Previously hailed as, The One-Man-Band Singing
Sensation, and now the self-proclaimed, "Hardest
Working Man in Show Business", MAYOR MCCA
(www.myspace.com/mayormcca) rocks out on the
electric guitar. When's not sucking or blowing down
harmonicas, kazoos or any other sonic contraption,
he is soulfully pushing air over his vocal chords
and forming noises that portray his most deep-felt
thoughts and emotions. A unique experience you
should not miss.
BRODY AND QUINT (www.brodyandquint.com) intimately
scored melodies balance guitar, cello and vocal
harmonies in a collection of wistful and engaging
original songs, with a style which has been compared
to the English folk/chamber pop tradition of iconic
artists such as Nick Drake and Vashti Bunyan, as
well as modern alt.folk groups such as James
Yorkston and the Athletes.
