Rippers Notes:

LCEDP is a new rhythmic noise project from Montreal
Canada. Recently Canada has been proving itself a hot
bed of industrial music especially rhythmic
industrial music. LCEDP joins this emerging trend
with the offering of De LÆutilite Des Convoyeurs. De
LÆutilite Des Convoyeurs is a 24-track assault on the
mind and senses. Themed around the ever-popular idea
of urban exploration LCEDP has created an album of
noise infested industrial music that offers a
relentless assault of harsh rhythmical compositions
that explore the industrialized urban landscape.

The most notable attribute of LCEDPÆs music is the
constructive use of noise and the uncompromising pace
of the sonic attacks. De LÆutilite Des Convoyeurs
offers twenty-four tracks of unforgiving electronic
terrorism that never pauses or retreats. Unlike other
rhythmic industrial acts that often detour into
softer ambient terrain in between caustic music
assaults LCEDP delivers a blistering barrage of songs
that never wavers from the warpath. The only moments
of reprieve are brief injections of sythn-based
ambience that are intermittently found amidst the
thundering rhythmic destruction that dominates each
track.

De LÆutilite Des Convoyeurs begins with the track
"Fibromyalgie." I found this track title quite
curious, as I am afflicted with a neuromuscular
condition called Fibromyalga. "Fibromyalgie" begins
with rapid industrial beats that crunch and crash
through the speakers like machine gun fire. An
underlying ambience juxtaposes the crashing rhythms
as the beats transform slightly into more static and
noise infused constructions. The music is quite
aggressive though it never quite reaches a point of
feeling smothering as the composition is constructed
with minimal elements that are held apart to allow
the listener clear passage through the music. The
beats descend, morph, and remain easy to follow as
the ambience swells and swoons. The elements of harsh
industrial noise, rhythmic industrial beats, and
eerie ambience carve out an effective if somewhat
short song.

Track eleven titled "Fgjjj" marks the middle of the
album. With most songs on the album wrapping up at
around three minutes you find yourself half way
through the album before you know it. The journey is
a violent one to say the least. Each track strains to
uncover new territory as the music blows a hole
through your mind and rips and rends its way through
your speakers. Each track is as aggressive and
forceful as the last never allowing you to rest.
"Fgjjj" begins with a looped shrill chord that
descends slowly while bubbling electronics build in
the background. You might begin to be fooled into
thinking the music is claming but before you know it
the ascension into noise begins with a static filled
drum assault that builds slowly over the bubbly
electronics. The drum assault quickly overtakes the
optimistic electronics as it is joined by crashing
looped noise and various layers of industrial noise.
One accomplishment of LCEDP that is worth pointing
out is the artistÆs ability to keep the music of
LCDEP danceable even at the most harsh moments in
each composition. "Fgjjj" like its predecessors never
loses the core rhythmic loops that lead the song
forward through the battlefield of noise.

Track twenty titled "Drl" is the closest to an
ambient track that LCEDP comes to on De LÆutilite Des
Convoyeurs. I found this track worth mentioning as I
found it to be very effective and would have enjoyed
it if more of the album followed a similar path.
"Drl" begins with a deep reverberating drone that is
looped in such a manner that it terminates before
beginning again. This reverberating loop is joined by
jagged metallic rhythms that hammer across the music
like a maniacal machine. Various noise elements are
fed through the compositions in order to enhance the
mechanical rhythms. The point of departure for this
song is the slowed pace the music takes and the
openness of the composition. "Drl" merges the
violence and aggression of previous tracks with
elements of dark ambience that I feel really enhance
the listening experience. This merging of harsh
electronics with dark ambience elements deepens the
listening experience and allows the listener the
opportunity to have the adrenaline driven listening
experience paired with music that is also emotionally
engaging.

LCEDP will be appealing to fans of Converter and
other such industrial acts that tend to deliver harsh
rhythmic industrial music that strays far from
emotion in favor of mechanical unremitting assaults.
