     delving way back into the late 80s and early 90s, ian loveday      
     recorded a set of dark film-influenced tracks as eon. spice, fear  
     is the mindkiller (both with samples from dune) and basketcase     
     were big 12" breakbeat affairs on his vinyl solution label with    
     john saul kane (depth charge) at the controls culminating in       
     1992Æs void dweller album. then followed more stripped back techno 
     collaborative work with peter æbabyÆ ford as minimal man for       
     guerilla, fordÆs trelik label, and kaneÆs electron industries.     
     returning again as eon for the electro label longhual, his new     
     album sum of parts sees a return to familiar territory. the film   
     samples are back along with some bonecrunching dark electro in the 
     first half of the album including the killer 12" tantalus. the     
     second half of the album is much more straight-forward early 90s   
     stripped back techno of the sort you might have expected from      
     plastikman around 1993. eonÆs stubborn reliance on the classic     
     roland synths rather than updating his gear gives the album a      
     dated feel but at least for the first half of sum of parts, thatÆs 
     what makes it work.
