while squarepusher, vsnares and countless others have extended and
mutated the 1995 jungle mashup to its (il)logical extremes, hairy
butter have turned their chopsticks towards uk garage. while
electronica and idm artists have painstakingly applied layer after
layer of distortion, hairy butter has had this step taken care of
him courtesy of cheap homebuilt fm transmitters and microwave
relays broadcasting the overloaded outputs of belt-driven
turntables and home-stereo equipment to a jaded london public,
ensnaring these fuzzy illegal broadcasts onto the hard drive for
later reconstruction in a whimsical and often haphazard manner.
hairy butter proves that uk garage doesnt have to be the inane
format which has seen an erosion of its ubiquity in favour of uk
     rap and even american hiphop/r&b.
