Scientists around the world are unanimous: global warming is
out to get you. Most recently, global warming struck close to
home, though not literally MY home."The Boats" (which includes
members of UK groups "the remote viewer" & ex-"hood").. got
swept up by "the sea".. At first I was angry, which is
natural. "Damn you, the Sea," I yelled!! "Daaammmnn yoouuuu"!
ôThe Boatsö had just released their 3rdLP and things couldnÆt
have been looking brighter. But suddenly they were gone."The
Sea" heard my impassioned yells, and months later I found this
album "The Boats are in the Bay" on reel-to-reel tape lying
upon the shore. My guess is that "the boats" were swallowed up
by a giant whale, recording the days away inside, using parts
of their wrecked boat. Old, broken instruments play soft and
simple melodies swamped with lost memories and a glowing
warmth. EskerÆs vocals strongly reverberate in the belly of
the beast as she sings out, hoping to sooth their whale host
to sleep and someday escape.
Fans of the boats should definitely pick this album up ASAP.
"The Sea" explore the more organic side of ambient pop.
Comparisons could be drawn to mum or the intimacy of shugo
tokumaru or and the studio prowesse of sigur ros - but we
don't draw comparisons around here. You can't capture the
seaö.
