the birth of "the havana boys" is the unique essence of a warm,
groovy and funky style - reflecting the musical development of a
sound that is crushing all stylistic borders.
at the beginning of the nineties, guitarists henrik raabe and
jakob seidensticker started to explore new musical horizons while
taking a tour on free instrumental improvisation.
they tried to take hold of the gained ideas and concepts in
different bandprojects and then closed the circle after they've
experienced the world of free tonal and rythmical expression
returning to their big love: the groove!
through their amazing gigs e.g. in the mojo club hamburg and on
the ämojo club dancefloor jazz tour 2000ô hendrik and jakob were
hyped within the scene. their limited and sold out maxi-cd and was
followed by their debut album äfirst strikeô on jubilee records
and carried their name far beyond the borders of hamburg.
through several album and single releases on jubilee records and
trax of interest as much as their regular live presence in the
german clubscene (mojo club / baikonur / atomic cafe) the havana
boys have been able to achieve a perfectly positive reputation far
beyond their previous status that hyped them to be a quiet tip.
burnin' dragon shows stylistic maturity and profundity: the havana
boys, sharper and more effective than ever, bring their typical
filmscore-dub-groove-style right to the point. take their
atmospheric tunes ('tanz der ritter' , 'darling', 'i should..'),
their driving floorkiler ('707', 'it's nice to see people happy'),
dancehall-vibes ('microlash'), deep stuff ('i know'), or the jazzy
groove of 'midnight experience': in burnin' dragon you will find
the homogeneous compositions of two dub-fans, that are able to
juggle distinctively with stylistic harmonies or their counterpart.
