| | The final EP from Citadel Of Kaos, the tag- | |
| | team of Jason Cambridge (A-Sides) and Jan | |
| | Salisbury (Helix), on their original label | |
| | Boombastic Plastic -- and what a way to go | |
| | out. Four tracks of absolutely mental shit | |
| | here, including the anthemic "Warped", which | |
| | could be considered the forebearer of the | |
| | entire "trancecore" scene which would come | |
| | to fruition in 1997. Coincidentally many of | |
| | the main trancecore tracks were also done by | |
| | Citadel Of Kaos, but by this time it was Jan | |
| | Salisbury operating solo. Also excellent on | |
| | this EP are... well, every other track! | |
| | "Freedom" is a piano tune for the happy | |
| | masses, progressing into weirded out synth | |
| | experimentation towards the end. On the flip | |
| | we have "Earthquake" with its 'checkin' da | |
| | cuts throughout the whole equator" and "cold | |
| | gettin' busy on the tempo" samples, and the | |
| | final track, "Drums Of Justice", a supreme | |
| | slice of darkside jungle techno. A top EP, | |
| | in a league of its own alongside all the | |
| | other Citadel Of Kaos stuff on Boombastic | |
| | Plastic. While this was their final release | |
| | together as Citadel Of Kaos, it wasn't the | |
| | last release on the label: that honor belongs | |
| | to A-Sides' solo release, "The String Trips | |
| | EP", with a catalogue number of BP006. | |
| | | |
| | Hold it down, hardcore massive! More is on | |
| | the way, without further delay. | |
