westpark unit finally finished their first album for draft
recordings. after their successful 12inch "forever / still",
westpark unit provide their vision of soulful deep house & headz
songs with a hip hop/jazz attitude. herb lf (part of the mighty
gush collective & nordstadt union) and ingo saenger (runs the
farside label with its groove anthology compilation series; since
seven years dj for germans saturday latenight mixshow on wdr eins
live radio) teamed up as westpark unit about two years ago.
"collected selected related" is all about house music, as well as
some charming dancehall bits & pieces and soul inspired grooves.
"selected related" for example uses a bossa style groove with a
dancehall hook, whether the huge and heartfelt drop in "forever"
uses an old o'jays lick.
after one of his first cd appearances for ingo┤s groove anthology
"house not house" compilation with the beautiful "lady luck" tune,
londons victor davies was always one of westpark unit┤s favourite
singers.
both are very happy to announce that victor liked their grooves
and wrote very strong lyrics for the album song "fade away" with
some melancholic flutes and a deep charming, almost 2stepish beat.
after huge success of victor davies first album on jazzanova /
compost, his westpark unit collaboration is his third guest
appearance only after working for landslide (hospital, london) and
kyoto jazz massive (tokyo).
"soul for your soul" is a beautiful smoover, whether dortmund
based jazz singer beate witte introduces an old burt bacharach
cover version of "look of love" over an minimalistic dope beat.
talking about dope beats, "hot box" is a weird track about future
club life.
but to set things straight, "still" is a bouncing deep house
groover with a heavy bassline as well as "think about it" which
starts like a funk inspired soul tune and ends up being a warm
melancholic house track. singer darren lee is well known in the
"ruhrgebiet" based clubscene where his spontanious live
appearances are just astonishing. that improvised feeling comes to
life on "look of love exclusive" on this bass heavy tune.
"collected selected related" should take you on a journey with its
club based styles and sounds, but also songs that you could enjoy
on your home system and in your boomin system when you riding
around with your windows down.
