.Releasenotes ..............................................................
Alternative and pop-punk band The Frst released their collaboration loaded,
debut album This Never Happened. The 13-song production is one of the most
ambitious of the year with some of the sceneÆs biggest names joining the band
on almost every track.
ôWorking on this record was quite literally a dream come true,ö the band say.
ôWe had been through a lot, and weÆre close to taking a break, but I hope
this album is a testament to seeing things through and sticking with it.ö
What warms the heart of any pop-punk fan is the eras in which The Frst pull
from. Bowling For SoupÆs Jaret Reddick joins the band on the anthemic ôAlmost
There.ö Kellin Quinn lends his vocals on the bouncy ôBruce Leeö while the
Sleeping With Sirens legend partners with Craig Owens (Chiodos) and The
Almost on the star-studded ôLove In 3D.ö
ôWhen The Frst asked me to feature on a song, I was a bit skeptical,ö Reddick
says. ôI mean, I love their stuff, but where does my voice fit with them
stylistically? When I heard æAlmost There,Æ I was instantly sucked in.ö
But The Frst also make sure to include some of the sceneÆs newest
flag-bearers. Makeup join them on the rip-roaring ôkNOwö while the criminally
underrated Dead Bundy adds their personal brand of insanity on the super fun
ôPop-Punk Song.ö
Rising star KID BRUNSWICK joins in onöHeaven Without You,ö while Eagles Of
Death Metal collaborate on the edgy ôMurderabilia.ö And in a song straight
out of the 2000Æs pop-emo days, The Dangerous Summer crushes its part on
ôTorpedoö.
ôCollaborating with these artists is still surreal. Growing up we went to see
a lot of these bands in concerts. Hearing your words sung back in your heroes
voice is absolutely unforgettable,ö the band continue. ôI remember standing
in line at the grocery store when Jesse Hughes texted me two wordsö æIÆm
down.'ö
To include the sheer amount of talent on the album is truly an incredible
accomplishment in itself. But to pinpoint the perfect place for each, as The
Frst have done here, is what makes this album so special.
The Frst have so much in store for the near future.
