| | OH MY GOSH. What a fucking classic we have | |
| | here, ladies and gentlemen, another amazing | |
| | release from the always on point Basement | |
| | label, and quite possibly my very favorite | |
| | tune of the entire oldskool era. Label | |
| | mainstay Jack Smooth teams up with Alex Reece | |
| | (yes, THAT Alex Reece) under the name | |
| | "Electronic Experienced" to record these two | |
| | tracks of hard-trance tinged oldskool jungle | |
| | tekno, and they're both absolute blinders. | |
| | Never heard anything quite like them before, | |
| | and it's doubtful you ever will again. | |
| | | |
| | The A-side track, "V-10 Overload", is a dark | |
| | little banger, with a resonating bassline | |
| | from hell winding its way throughout the | |
| | track amidst symphonic orchestral sweeps, and | |
| | this track alone would rate the EP getting a | |
| | ten. However, the best tune on here is the | |
| | B-side, a quality number entitled "No. 303", | |
| | and it's indescribably beautiful, a perfect | |
| | blend of everything that was going on in the | |
| | scene at the time all rolled up into six | |
| | minutes and fourteen seconds of bliss. | |
| | You'll undoubtedly recognize it from it being | |
| | dropped by EVERYONE (and I do mean everyone: | |
| | DJs as diverse as Fabio, Top Buzz, Phantasy, | |
| | and Tango all spun this at one time or | |
| | another). Pure brilliance -- if you sleep on | |
| | this one, you just don't know. | |
| | | |
| | Alex & Jack teamed up again for a second | |
| | outing on Basement as Electronic | |
| | Experienced in 1994 on catalogue number | |
| | BRSS032, with "IQ" and "More IQ". They also | |
| | released a record on Phantasy's precursor to | |
| | Easy Records, Liquid Wax, under the name The | |
| | S.H.A.R.P. Project, and it's very much in the | |
| | same vein as these tunes right here, well | |
| | worth seeking out for all those in the know. | |
| | | |
| | Hold tight, hardcore massive! Respect is due | |
| | to all the oldskool ravers enjoying these | |
| | rips -- more is on the way. Keep the vibe | |
| | alive. | |
