sami koivikko, a 24-year-old guy living in tampere/finland, is the
latest finnish artist to release his music on a non-domestic
record label. as so many times before with finnish electronic
music, also now the publisher was found in germany; with a larger
market area even for experimentation, unlike in frosty finland,
where rock music is traditionally preferred to the marginal
bleeps. the label in question is the innovatively named
shitkatapult, known for its more left-field and eclectic releases.

kut pulatin part 2 is a shitkatapult release from early this year,
and the quality level is predictably high. hermonik lost takes a
skanked up fruity loop and matches a swaggering electro b-line to
good effect, then vaihtotoinen beefs up the bottom end a touch
more and raises the tempo, so it's touching more dub disco areas.
but the real shocker comes at the top of side two. byrthe persists
with the looping discoid feel, but recuts, rearranges and
rerenders the keys from radiohead's pyramid song into a tecced up
     club anthem.
