   release notes:

ôPanzer Division Mardukö is one of those albums that is not looking
for mass approval. Hell, itÆs not even looking for general approval
within the black metal community as we can see by the reviews on this
site. Now, we could be merciful here and talk about how all of us are
different, about how all of us have varying tastes when it comes to
artùhowever, it seems that there are cheeky ones, those who climbed
out of their fortifications to fire their doorknockers at the unit.
These cheeky ones certainly partook in ribaldry to arouse the war
machine from sleepùapparently it was supposed to silence and destroy
it once and for all. Well, it appears that all the rounds shot at the
panzers bounced off the armor, made the commander laugh over the
radio, which woke up the other commanders who immediately mobilized,
and with a grin are preparing to drive their ferocious steel beasts
   right into the enemyÆs frontline.

Okay, now that the silly intro has been done, time to actually discuss
the album. ôPanzer Division Mardukö is a name that doesnÆt leave room
for a guessing game. Here we have tanks rolling through the mud,
artillery blasting the helpless infantry apart, machine guns mowing
down infantry charges, Stukas diving as they seek to annihilate the
enemy before he can even deploy. These sounds are present in-between
songs and will serve as your only reprieve from the slaughter and
rampage happening on here, ironically enough. Morgan, the head
commander of the unit, blasts apart with coaxial machine gun riffage
all of those who would dare to oppose the unitÆs mighty advanceùbut do
not be fooled, there is certain decorum in slaughter, as the riffs get
quite technical at times. See ôScorched Earthö and ô502ö to see what I
mean. The drums are relentless, pummeling the ears as if they were
occupied by enemy formation which would be too costly to flush out
with an infantry assault. The bass is basically non-existent, but like
logistics, you only realize how important it is until itÆs gone. It
serves to provide the footing for the carnage and nothing more.

Then we have the commander of the first tank in the unit, the one most
eager to greet the enemy with molten steel and hail of gunfireùLegion.
The tank ace howls and shrieks as the guns light up the ridgeline,
Stukas drop all their bombs onto key enemy fortifications, all the
helpless burning infantry emerges from the trenches and is mowed down
by machine gunsùthe entire band should get their due credit for
effectively creating these images, but man does Legion sell them.
Particularly on ôBeast Of Preyö. Once you hear ôALL I WANT, ALL I
NEED, IS TO SEE MY ENEMIES BLEEDö you will get a strong urge to kick
in the nearest living thingùjust make sure said thing is not human, or
at least not weak, you donÆt want to be making funeral arrangements.
Or ending up in court for manslaughter.

To sum it up, ôPanzer Division Mardukö is not giving or looking for
mercy. ItÆs not seeking out approval from EmperorÆs later day
progwanking fans, neither is it seeking approval from the fans of more
elegant outings like Carach Angren or early Cradle Of Filth. ItÆs an
album that gives no and expects no quarter. So, despite my high
rating, unless you can handle the relentless pummeling for 30 minutes,
I recommend you avoid this albumùotherwise youÆre gonna get a silly
idea of loading up a doorknocker and firing it at the absolutely
impenetrable steel. However, if you can handle the carnage on here, by
all accounts get itùitÆs still among the highlights of MardukÆs
   lengthy and pretty consistent career.
