| | And one more... from the UK's number one | |
| | underground label fusing hip hop and | |
| | hardcore, Shut Up And Dance. This particular | |
| | EP sees PJ and Smiley themselves doing a | |
| | release under their own SUAD alias, and what | |
| | a doozy it is. The A-side, "Autobiography Of | |
| | A Crackhead", is a blatant slap in the face, | |
| | waking you back up to reality. The best | |
| | possible comparison is the movie/book Requiem | |
| | For A Dream, but in song form. Listen to the | |
| | lyrics and it hurts. Coincidentally, take a | |
| | listen to the background, and you can hear a | |
| | sample taken from Moby's "Go (Rainforest | |
| | Mix)". This song also later appeared in a | |
| | tripped-out acoustic version on SUAD's second | |
| | full-length album, "Death Is Not The End". | |
| | | |
| | The flip side features two versions of the | |
| | instrumental track, "The Green Man", which | |
| | alternates between hardcore bleep-bass-and- | |
| | breaks and a short looped sample from an | |
| | orchestral piece of chamber music. Both | |
| | versions are excellent, however, it's the Rum | |
| | and Black mix on here which goes down in | |
| | history, as it made an appearance on the | |
| | cheesy early '90s compilation "Rave Til | |
| | Dawn", one of the only two UK hardcore tracks | |
| | on the CD -- the other being Two Little Boys' | |
| | "Stylophonia". So even people beyond your | |
| | typical hardcore ravers will have a moderate | |
| | amount of familiarity with this track! | |
