| | The latest EP on Klute's label arrives, | |
| | sporting (as we've come to expect) some | |
| | forward-thinking tracks from new and old | |
| | artists. | |

| | A: 'Calibre - Proof Positive' | |
| | | |
| | Calibre's track seems a little out of place | |
| | on this compilation. It starts nicely enough, | |
| | with some interesting pads that reverse and | |
| | inflect on themselves. Towards the middle, | |
| | the lack of a discernable synth line really | |
| | grinds the track to a halt, and the vocal | |
| | samples just get plain annoying after a | |
| | while. | |
| | | |
| | B: 'Klute - Get It Away' | |
| | | |
| | This track has been circulating in DJ circles | |
| | for a while now, seeing support from the | |
| | likes of Cause 4 Concern. It starts with some | |
| | dirty bass stabs before dropping into an | |
| | unrelenting break, complete with weird vocal | |
| | samples and wooden percussion. Watch the | |
| | bassline on this one, it's like hitting a | |
| | brick wall at high speed. | |
| | | |
| | C: 'Total Science - My World' | |
| | | |
| | Classic happy sounds are the order of the day | |
| | with this track, definitely one to get the | |
| | crowd moving. I'm not a Total Science fan, | |
| | but I really, really like this tune. | |
| | | |
| | D: 'Concord Dawn - Take Me Away' | |
| | | |
| | New Zealand producers Concord Dawn have been | |
| | producing for a while now, but have only | |
| | recently seen success in the shape of their | |
| | anthem 'Morning Light', recently promo'd on | |
| | Timeless. This track is in a similar vein, | |
| | but definitely is the more epic of the two. | |
| | At 9 minutes in length, you'd expect to be a | |
| | little bored by then end of it... I think | |
| | you'll be pleasantly surprised. | |
| | | |
| | Note: The full title is "Klute Presents: | |
| | Anything & Everything Volume 2", but the | |
| | filenames were too long in that format | |
| | (those of you who burn mp3s to CD will know | |
| | what I mean). | |
